Olaf Avenati
Graphic & digital designer in Paris, Olaf Avenati is a graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris in visual communication & multimedia (1998). Winner of the Mobius international award in 2000 (special jury prize) for the CD-ROM Au Cœur de Bahia, he participated in the workshop Tout pour plaire from 1998 to 2013 and has been developing his own freelance graphic designer activity since 2013.
He designs paper and electronic publishing objects, in the cultural, associative, and institutional fields: websites, mobile applications, interactive terminals, books, posters, illustrations, brochures, visual identities, signage, and cultural pathways.
He is an associate member of the Cluster of Excellence Matters of Activity. Image, Space, Material, at Humboldt University of Berlin. There, he leads an interdisciplinary research project on the visual model of the human brain – Brain Roads – in collaboration with researchers in neuroscience, neurosurgeons, and researchers in the humanities.
At Esad, he mainly teaches in the Master degree. With Laurent Mészáros, he co-coordinated the Master in graphic and digital design and accompanied the students to the DNSEP degree until 2023. He develops the post-graduate co-training Innovation, Design, and Committed Entrepreneurship [IDEE] with two partner schools: Institut Mines Télécom Business School and Télécom SudParis - Institut Polytechnique de Paris. He co-leads the joint Esad / IMT research seminar: Forms, Technologies, Society. He leads the Datavisualisation program and co-directed the collective work Datalogie. Formes et imaginaires du numérique edited with Pierre-Antoine Chardel, published in 2016 by Loco editions, and the work Corps connectés. figures, fragments, discours edited with Armen Katchatourov, Pierre-Antoine Chardel, and Isabelle Queval, published in 2022 by Presses des Mines.
