Instructions for a science-fictional object

The instructions for use are the document in which the users are presented in a very accomplished and explicit manner; this is for obvious didactic purposes. Beyond being an element of communication, the instructions for use are an object that can be handled, has its own ergonomics, an affordance, and is a strong reference to the universe surrounding the product concerned.

The students selected an object of their choice from the world of science fiction (literature, cinema, comics, video games) and dissected it in order to understand its functionalities and context of use. The choice of a fictitious technical object pushes the students to make a work of projection, for which it is necessary to call upon personal experience and common sense. The plastic forms that emerge are varied, and demonstrate that none of them has a monopoly on truth in terms of representation.
